Apple has just released iOS 8.4.1 to the public recently. The iOS 8.4.1 update is widely expected to be the final iOS 8 release before its iOS 9 operating system and its features and fixes. The iOS 9 release data is still unknown but it loos like it will fall sometime between September 9th and September 28th. When the new update comes, it will bring more new features for you to better experience iOS operating system. Here, we will show you detailed features of iOS 9.

Compatible Device for iOS 9

iOS 9 works with all devices that are able to run iOS 8, including the older A5-based iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Compatible devices include the iPhone 4S and newer, the iPad 2 and newer, and the original iPad mini and newer.

New features of iOS 9

Siri & Search (Proactive) The new, more proactive Siri is contextually aware and can offer you more information than ever. Siri is at the heart of the changes, and the personal assistant is now able to create contextual reminders and search through photos and videos in new ways. Swiping left from the home screen also brings up a new screen that houses "Siri Suggestions," putting favorite contacts and apps right at your fingertips, along with nearby restaurant and location information and important news.

iOS 9 has also been updated with a brand new Search window, which offers commonly used apps or contacts, one-tap links to nearby locations and breaking news. There’s also a brand new API for Search, which means that it can now pull up content from within apps. When you tap on the information, you’re deep linked into the app. This new search feature is accessed by swiping left on the home screen.

With the new Search and Siri features, Apple placed a heavy emphasis on privacy. All features are anonymous and are not linked to an Apple ID, with users in control of data and content.

Apps and Services

News App. This time, iOS 9 has added News app to your Home Screen. News conveniently collects all the stories you want to read, from top news sources, based on topics you’re most interested in — so you no longer need to move from app to app to stay informed. News also combines the rich and immersive design found in print with the interactivity of digital media, letting you enjoy stunningly crafted articles just how the publisher intended.

Notes App. In iOS 9, Notes app also get updated. Now it’s great for so much more. Want an easy way to make a checklist of to-dos? Consider it done. Or add a photo, map, or URL to a note. You can even draw a sketch with your finger. And thanks to iCloud, changes to your notes will be updated across all your devices and on iCloud.com. So you’ll always have your latest notes in hand.

Maps App. Another major update in iOS 9 is Maps. Now you can use public transportation with Maps as your guide. In select cities around the world, a new Transit view shows you lines and stations right on the map. When you plan a route, every step of your trip is laid out from point A to point B. And with the Nearby feature, it’s easier to see what’s around you and decide on places to shop, eat, and more.

iCloud Drive. In iOS 9, there's an optional iCloud Drive app that can be installed through the iCloud section of the Settings app. The iCloud Drive app lets you see, access, and manage all of the files that you have stored within iCloud Drive, and will be a welcome feature for customers who have asked for such an app.

Mail.  In Mail, it's possible to add file attachments for the first time. When composing a message, press on the screen to bring up the options menu and select "Add Attachment." You can add files from iCloud Drive or from third-party services like Dropbox. Some file types are zipped before being added to a message, but others, like PDFs, are added directly.

Health. Health can measure additional metrics in iOS 9, including reproductive health, a much-requested feature. Reproductive health settings monitor menstruation, basal body temperature, and more. There are also new options for monitoring hydration and UV exposure.

CarPlay. The major change to CarPlay in iOS 9 is wireless support. In some cars and with some systems, the iPhone is able to connect to the car without requiring a wired Lightning connection.

CarPlay in iOS 9 also includes deeper support for car control systems, so a car's knobs can be used to control CarPlay features. Apps developed by car manufacturers are available in CarPlay as well, so car features can be accessed without the need to leave the CarPlay interface.

Apple Pay. Apple Pay is gaining support for store credit cards and loyalty cards, which has prompted Apple to change the name of Passbook to Wallet. According to the company, the new name is a reflection of its progress towards replacing the physical wallet.

Multitasking in iPad. Slide Over, Split View, and Picture in Picture give you new ways to multitask on iPad. Your iPad is great for work. And for play. For creating incredible designs or powerful presentations. For building fun slideshows or video chatting with loved ones. And for tons of other stuff. Now you can make even better use of its large screen to do two of those things — at the same time.

QuickType. Shape up your text in no time with an all-new Shortcut Bar, convenient editing tools, and a handy new way to selecttext with Multi-Touch gestures. And now when you use a wireless keyboard with your iPad, you can enjoy even more keyboard shortcuts.

Apple also announced Swift 2, an upgrade to its programming language, and made Swift open source. iOS 9, which is a free update, is available to registered developers immediately, and it will be available to public beta testers beginning in July. A public release will come in the fall.
